LAUREL WEIR

Soprano 

Laurel Weir received a Master's degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music while studying under the tutelage of tenor, Vinson Cole. She is from Canton, Ohio where she studied with mezzo-soprano, Cynthia Wohlschlager while earning duel Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Communication Arts from Malone University. In December 2012, Ms. Weir performed in her first opera as the lead role of the Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. Since her operatic debut, she has performed the roles of Frasquita in Carmen, Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte and as Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro. In 2013, she won first-place in the statewide Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition as well as presented a recital in Salzburg, Austria as winner of the Schloss Mirabell Competition. In January 2014, she was selected for "The Song Continues," Marilyn Horne's week-long master class series at Carnegie Hall, followed by a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
